Job Purpose
Responsible for identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, monitoring network performance and all computer communication networks in ASC in addition to recommending network, data communications, hardware & software to ensure the uninterrupted performance.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Policies & Procedures
Implement the Network Support Department’s set policies and procedures and comply with the ASC’s other policies.
Network Administration Activities
- Design of computer networks, physical and logical network infrastructures, servers, etc. (e.g. Internet, Intranet, web mail, FTP servers, etc.) for ensuring effective and efficient operating systems.
- Plan the installation of computers and network equipment, network (client and server) software, exchange servers and internet servers for meeting the technology needs of the client.
- Supervise the installation of network & systems as per the approved architecture (including hardware and software technology, site locations, and integration of technologies).
- Analyze, test, and monitor network systems, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), Internet, intranet, and other data communications systems as applicable.
- Monitor the working of various aspects of network connectivity, servers and systems… etc. in order to ensure smooth operation and to rectify any problems or incorrect usage.
- Ensure the servers and other hardware systems are patched on a timely basis and are highly secure.
- Ensure the server Operating System (OS) along with the applications is backed up after each major change in the OS or Application.
- Create Disaster Recovery Plan and implement it under the supervision of the Network Support Manager.
- Implement regular maintenance programs and schedules for the network and software (updates, installation, security patches).
- Advise clients and employees using LAN/WAN on a variety of tasks, such as adding /deleting users (regarding passwords, security, access to software and peripherals sharing).
- Administer user accounts in all areas related to Account Creation, Account Deletion in addition to Account Modification…etc.
- Administer active directory and Exchange server/ ASC Imail Server and CCTV System.
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous upgrades of systems, processes, practices and new applications while taking into account international best practice, improvement of business processes, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.
- Develop test procedures and plan for network enhancements, hardware modifications and firmware upgrades.
- Research network and security trends, products, equipment, tests…etc. and communicate it with the direct manager.
- Assist ASC’s technical team in developing information subsystems and programs, transfer important technical knowledge to employees as and when required.
- Perform other duties related to the job as assigned by the Direct Manager.
Reports
Prepare and submit progress reports to the direct manager pertaining to incidents and reports related to the areas which require attention as required.
